Harry Potter Experience in Edinburgh | My Honest Review of The Cauldron Bar
Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo—oh no wait, that’s from Cinderella. Let me try again. Expecto Patronum, my friends, and welcome to Edinburgh, basically the birthplace of Harry Potter. Have you ever wondered how cool it would be to use magic for your everyday life? Just one flick of a wand could pass you that TV remote that’s lying behind the couch or clean your room in an instant. I know I would love that world.
Sadly, we Muggles don’t have those magic wands (yet). However, there is one place in Edinburgh that would make you feel like a real member of the wizarding world. Welcome to The Cauldron, a place where magic potions brew. I love magic and I love cocktails, so I decided to check this place out.
The Cauldron in Edinburgh offers you a potion-making experience, or you can simply book a table and enjoy the vibe. Let’s look into both options.

Potion-Making Experience
The first time I visited The Cauldron was specifically for the potion-making experience. I had a great opportunity to join The Cauldron on the opening night back in 2017, and I still remember it as a fun and memorable night out.
So let’s have a quick walkthrough of this experience: On arrival, you get to wear robes, so you are more in tune with the bar’s ambiance. You can then pour yourself a drink using a magic wand. Afterwards, you will be given instructions and ingredients that will help you create two cocktails using a magic wand. It’s a really fun experience to follow the riddle and try to figure out what goes where. For those who don’t drink, there is always a mocktail option. The whole experience takes about 2 hours and is currently priced at £33.99. A few times a year, the concept and cocktails change, so you can always come back to try something new.
Bar Experience
Don’t feel like spending so much money on the experience but still would like to enjoy the wizarding world? Then you can simply book yourself a table and order some magical drinks to come to your table. The professional witch would prepare it for you; all you have to do is enjoy it. Remember to book your Harry Potter experience in advance!
